Housing

We provide affordable homes for people from different backgrounds and with a variety of needs. Most of our homes provide a culturally specific environment for Irish people. The rest of our housing will meet the needs of England's multi-cultural population.

Most of our properties are classed as supported housing. Tenants in supported housing have additional support needs. We give you support so you can stay independently in your own home. We do this for up to two years with a clear exit strategy.

Tenants in supported housing have their own support worker. Your support worker will prepare a support plan with you This is an agreement between Cara and you on the level of support you need. The support worker can give practical advice on a range of issues, such as:

  • helping you move into your new Cara home
  • making money go further on a budget
  • developing independent life skills
  • getting into training, education or employment
  • applying for our specialist services
  • using services in the community, including activities for people from particular cultural backgrounds.

Our other properties are classed as 'general needs'. If you are a tenant in general needs accommodation you will have your own housing officer. Housing officers help you to keep up your tenancy and encourage you to get involved in our work.
