Board of management

Cara supports the National Housing Federation's (NHF) Code of Governance. We have adopted a Board Governance Policy and Code of Conduct for Board members.

Our Board of Management is made up of:

• 10 independent Board members elected by the membership at the annual general meeting
• two tenant Board members elected by tenants.

All Board members are expected to:

• act in the best interests of Cara by behaving properly and with honesty and integrity when representing the Association
• uphold the values and objectives of Cara
• contribute to and share responsibility for the control of the Association
• prepare for and attend meetings, training sessions and events as appropriate
• respect confidentiality of information
• support the NHF's Code of Governance.

Board members carry out an annual skills audit to ensure that they hold the necessary skills and knowledge to be an effective Board. Appraisals of Board members are being introduced during 2007.
